And the stairs I dreamt were also highly unaccesible, because the entrance was very narrow. They were very abrupt and small, and someone told me me that if I didn`t have the courage to get in, he would push me behind them. In all this time there was a dog there I was afraid of. So my German Shepherd mix (one year old) knows how to go up and down the stairs, but when I want to leave and playtime is over with him he comes flying up the stairs to the kitchen (which is where my stairs to the basement are located) and then when I tell him to go down, he doesn't go down, (but he knows how to), if I go down, he doesn't follow me he just stays at the top (and he 90% of the time follows me around). I throw one of his favorite balls down the stairs, (the first time he went down and got it) but the second time he didn't follow it. The only way he goes down is if I throw him a treat down the stairs. I don't want him to get used to this and be the only way to go down the stairs, is there a way I can teach him to go down? And is there a way to teach him not to follow me when Im going up the stairs? Suggestions/Comments/links would be great! Thanks.

I want to build a set of steps for my maltese to use when getting on and off the bed. We recently bought a very high bed, and he flies off of it like super-dog... But, I'm worried that he's going to break it little leg one of these days, so I want to build steps because the premade ones are terribly expensive. What kind of saw would I need to get the job done? What materials should I use? Please give me you suggestions. I am very mechanical for a woman... work on cars, fix things around the house, ect, but I've never built something from scratch.

I recently took the board off the back of the basement stairs and now the dog can see through the stairs and is too scared to climb up we have to exit the basement door and come around

i tried putting its favourite jerky on top of the stairs. and calling it. it just stands at the bottom of the stairs. how do i teach my dog how to climb stairs? (i thought of teaching it how to climb up before going down). its a shih tzu by the way.

My dog doesn't like going down the stairs unless I am in front of him. And If I stop in the middle of it he'll just stare at me and wait for me to continue. lol why is that? Do me a favor and Grow the phuck up Neyir. Seriously.

My chihuahua is not able to come up on my bed by herself so I am always having to pick her up to put her on my bed. So I decided to get pet stairs for her. But she is not taking to them right away, so I am trying to train her to use them. First I put a treat on the top step, but all she has to do is put one paw on the stairs to get to it. So then I put a treat on the bed, but she just trys to get to it without using the stairs. So then I physically put her on the stairs, but when I do this she kind of freezes up. I use a lot of good girls and good doggies and am always upbeat and happy when I do this with her. I've only done this twice, once yesterday and once today, since I don't want to scare her. Does anyone have any experience with this same scenario? Should I keep doing what I'm doing until she learns how to use them? She is a very good dog and listens to me, she comes when she's called etc.

One of my dogs can walk down the stairs but will hesitate on the third to last step at the bottom because the stair case twists at the bottom. She doesn't know the technique for coming down those steps without going too fast and falling on the floor below. She will only go down these steps with a "spotter" (aka: a person sitting on the second step from the bottom and coaxing her down) Basically she's really neurotic. Any suggestions of how to train her to not be afraid of coming down the last 3 stairs?

My dog is terrified of stairs. We have about 10 stairs going into the basement where we spend most of our time. She's only four months old and I've only been in this house two weeks.
