I have a cedear wood dog house, I just bought it used, It looks like it was standing outside for a while. I want to paint it, because it has the natural finish on it. I am wondering what do you use to paint this dog house, and what to use for clean up. Would I use wood stain????? anything also to protect it from the rain???? Thanks Kamil

I would like to treat my dog wood house with oil after that i will varnish it but all cost a lot of money please suggest cheap oil to first treat the wood after i will varnish it and how long should i wait after the treatment of oil to start vanish

I am building a wooden dog house as a late mothers day gift and I am assuming the house is going to stay outside most of the time. I know I 'can' weather proof and paint it, but is there any special precautions I need to take so it will be safe for the dogs? I live in Las Vegas where it gets pretty hot, so I don't want to accidentally get something that releases noxious fumes during the summer. Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

We bought a plastic 'insulated' one at Wal-Mart and the dog refuses to sleep in it (we think it might be the plastic smell). We are not very handy when it comes to carpentry, so is there any kind of national brand of manufactured WOOD dog houses that can be found in a pet store or large retailer? We would need a large one.
